The Corporation of the District of Coquitlam was incorporated by Letters Patent on July 25, 1891 — predating the City of Vancouver as a District municipality. Pre-incorporation name: 'Westminster Junction.' The first municipal council met at Kelly's Hall on August 22, 1891.
