Coquitlam History
Before the Burke Mountain residential build-out began with first re-zonings in Spring 2006, the mountain had a long history. Canadian Robert Dollar Company logged the lower slopes in the 1920s using a steam railway from Port Moody/Westwood across the Coquitlam River. The City of Coquitlam Burke Mountain Area Plan was completed in 2000 as the framework for what is now ~7,600 new homes.

Coquitlam History · Real estate connection
Burke Mountain's residential history is just two decades old. The mountain itself has been there forever; the homes have not. Buyers should understand that the build-out continues in active phases — what you see today is not what you'll see in five years. Long-term hold on Burke is largely a bet on the master plan completing as designed.
